The light is safe to keep on all night, as it has a low voltage bulb with a 12V plug in transformer and does Not require any batteries .  As you turn it on, after a few minutes, the heat of the bulb will turn the illustrated cylinder.  The included bulb is completely encased and can be replaced by unscrewing the cover .
